DEPARTMENT OF QUALITY SEED PRODUCTION

Seed quality control is efforts and activities undertaken to ensure the seeds that are being produced for the farmer’s benifts and for sustainable seed business.

Some of the inportant steps during the quality corn hybrid seed production.

  • After the bulk production of the parental lines we store it seperatly with a proper tagging and proper storage environment. For the genetic purity of the hybrid seed production , seed must be used from breeder seed.
  • we follow some of the important factors during commerical production of corn hybrid seed for protection of seed from contaminarion.
  • Both parents are treated with different colors for identification and havd be kept in different colors of bags for avoiding seed mixing.
  • Before field preperation we irrigate the field for the purpose of germination of other seeds.
  • We plough the field for crushing the unwanted plants.
  • Exert labors have to use for sowing of corn seed production.
  • Safe weedicide are used after planting.
  • We do not grow production on corn to corn fields which raises the contamination chances.
  • Isolated field have to be selected for seed production that may be timely isolated.
  • Roughing has to be done by experience persons at different stages of crops
  • Male and female should be properly poor synchronize otherwise foreign pollen may cause contamination.
  • Detesseling must be done by train person for avoiding self pollination.
  • When pollination is completed then we cut the male plants from production field
  • When crop is matured up to required mositure then we harvest it.
  • Before harvesting roug off-type and high moisture of cobs must be done.
  • We try our best to carry harvested cobs uo to the drying plant with in short period of time.
  • For achieving quality and vigorous seed, we try the cobs with specific drying equilibrium chart ( For temperature).
  • After shelling we kep the seed in proper storage for fumigation.
  • Before cleaning and grading of the seed we remove all other varieties or crop seed from processing plant.
  • After the completion of cleaning and gading we treat the seed with proper dye, fungicide and insecticide from protection of fungus and insect attack.
